The American Southwest is known for its breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and vibrant cultures; for decades, the magnificent space has inspired creatives in all arts, including artists today. Tim Fraizer's art is a modern interpretation of the ancient landscapes that have long inspired generations. His paintings featuring the stately saguaro exudes a unique vibrancy, "My attempt is to represent my vision of the majestic saguaro and its surroundings by combining the serene beauty of the Arizona desert with bold colors and vibrant abstracts."
Growing up in the Valley of the Sun, Phoenix, Arizona, Tim credits his mother, an artist in her own right, with being one of his first influences in encouraging him to express himself creatively through art. Today’s cheerleader and biggest supporter is Tim's wife, Cathy. She is an integral part of setting up and running festival booths, managing gallery exhibits, and providing valuable feedback on various concepts and ideas that make their way to Tim's canvases.
Tim's deep connection to the Arizona desert is evident in his work. He states, "Of all the places I've seen, the Arizona desert is and always will be my favorite. I'm specifically drawn to the majestic saguaro, unique species only found in this region of the world. I chose the saguaro as the star of my paintings with other desert elements appearing as supporting actors." This profound connection to his subject matter guides his artistic journey, “I love to delve into the possibilities of combining different techniques and colors to create the unique backgrounds I use to showcase a more vibrant and colorful version of the saguaro and its surroundings.”
Tim creates his work in a small home studio in Phoenix, Arizona. Lately, he has increased the size and scope of his canvases, as a result he has found it necessary to move to his home's loft, where he has room to work on the floor. Tim describes his initial approach is using vibrant colors to create an abstract view of the amazing Arizona skies. He then uses the same colors to paint his vision of the saguaros and their surroundings. The work then comes together to portray the beauty of a unique desert landscape.
Tim's winning technique attracts clients from across the country, both individual and corporate, who purchase his work for their homes and offices. Tim is a member of the Sonoran Arts League, the Arizona Artist Guild, and On the Edge Gallery in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona, where he maintains a continuous exhibit. His work has been at various arts festivals, including the Annual Hidden in the Hills Artist Studio Tour in Cave Creek and Carefree, which takes place over the last two weekends in November. Artist Tim Fraizer’s saguaros and desert landscapes embody the energy of the Southwest; their glowing vibrancy captivate the space in which they occupy.
